Monday May 25th was Africa Day, a day set apart to celebrate the diversity and great things of Africa. Africa is the second largest continent and is made up of 54 countries. Africa is rich in natural resources but remains one of the least wealthy continents per capita. Africa accounts for about 16% of the world's human population. Interestingly, the median age of Africa is only 18 years old -- this is 13 years younger than the next lowest median age of any continent! At Spring Valley Children's Center they are working to empower, educate and equip the poor children of the slums who will be the leaders of tomorrow.
